Pointing and other masonry

There is quite a difference between pointing (actually, replacing) and smearing over damaged brick. Today’s masonry also included enclosing the lintels over the back window-to-be. First they tacked the wire mesh to the steel beam, using an extremely loud gun. That made for a heart-stopping breakfast. The cement sticks to the mesh, and the bricks are set into the cement.

They also extended water and electricity lines up through the roof at both ends of the roof, so that we’ll be able to do stuff in the garden. Mixing and chopping small amounts of cement generates a huge amount of dust with very special properties: It is absolutely irresistible to cats, and it absolutely will not come out of their fur. DW and I have smothered Charlie with wet towels at least four times, and brushed him twice as often, but he is still gritty and grey.
