The cement has now cured for its required 13 days. The crew wrapped up all the masonry details today, in preparation for tomorrow’s big action: the arrival of the EPDM. The parapets are all built up and smoothed out to their proper levels. The brick pointing is done. Beneath the roof, shiny copper water pipes have been connected to the three garden faucets.I’m sure the parkers* don’t appreciate this, but it is just great to have a big empty garage right under the project where everything can be stored! This morning
we got a huge delivery of stone. It will become the rustic banks of the winding path through the garden. We also found out that the wooden paving tiles that will become the floor of the paths and patios cannot be delivered till mid-October.*Incredibly the parkers are still voluntarily paying their monthly rent. Parking is so tough in this neighborhood, and new meters were just installed along the nearest shopping avenue.

i didn't know that cement could be so inspiring. i want to roll around on the cement in the photo, so i'm feeeling jealous of charlie. it looks great!! and hooray about the downing of the pesky tree. from personal experience it's hard to let go of the privacy cover that even an ugly tree provides, but the presence of new plants will help you stop looking into the absence of an old one.
